VTCT Level 2 Award in Threading

Threading is the manual method of hair removal similar to plucking. Twisted cotton thread is passed across the skin to catch the hairs, removing them from their follicles. Threading is a simple, cheap and an efficient way of removing unwanted hair with minimal pain. Very short hair is removed with little irritation to the skin, making it possible to go over the area more than once to create a clean, fresh finish every time. A 100% anti-bacterial cotton thread is used, which allows strength and resilience during the technique whilst reducing the risk of infection to the skin and hair follicle.

Threading is suitable for the smaller areas of the body, mostly the face, e.g. upper lip, eyebrows, chin, sides of the face, nose, ears, neck and forehead but can be used all over the body.

During the course, the learner will learn how to thread unwanted hair using all three main techniques, hand, neck and mouth methods, and upon completion, will be confident performing all three in all required areas. This course can be used towards the full VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy General.
