The primary outcome of the VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy is to prepare you to enter the beauty therapy sector as an advanced senior beauty therapist.

Overview

The VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy is a vocationally related qualification that will prepare you to gain employment as an advanced senior beauty therapist. The units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. Entry on to this qualification can be via the previous attainment of a beauty therapy qualification at level 3.

This vocational qualification builds on beauty therapy skills to allow you to develop an enhanced repertoire of advanced specialist beauty therapy techniques to prepare you for employment as an advanced senior beauty therapist. The advanced techniques covered in the mandatory section of this qualification include:

– laser and light treatments for hair removal,

– laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation,

– microdermabrasion techniques.

You will also gain knowledge and understanding of dermatology and microbiology, physiology of ageing, management of health, safety and security in the salon, quality management of client care, and salon management. You will also have the opportunity to further develop your knowledge and skills by selecting from a range of optional units, including research, IT and data handling, marketing, cultural, social and technological influences on beauty-related industries, public relations in the hair and beauty sector.

What could this qualification lead to?

This qualification will qualify you to gain employment as an advanced senior beauty therapist. This is the only VTCT qualification in advanced beauty therapy. Career opportunities as an advanced beauty therapist exist in a variety of contexts, including:

– Owning/Working in commercial beauty salons
– Working in destination and day spas
– Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings

Who supports this qualification?

This qualification is based on the Habia National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the leading professional association representing owners of hair and beauty salons, the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT), as being fit for purpose to prepare you for employment as an advanced senior beauty therapist. Holders of this qualification are eligible to become members of FHT. Further information on FHT membership can be found on their website.
