VTCT Level 2 Facials and Skin Care

A comprehensive study and/or assessment in skincare. Practical skills learned to include skin analysis to determine the most suitable course of treatments and range of products to use, cleansing, toning, moisturizing, steaming, extraction, a full facial massage routine, selecting and applying tailor-made face masques.

The theory portion of this course involves the anatomy & physiology of the upper torso, including the muscles, bones, blood and nerve supply and an in-depth study of the skin. This course encompasses Health & Safety, Client Care & Communication into the qualification, allowing to deliver a hygienic, safe and effective treatment to each clients.

Progression from this course allows the learner into the VTCT Level 3 Electrical Face and Body courses and VTCT Level 3 Beauty Therapy, as well as an excellent pre-requisite to further advanced courses such as VTCT Level 4 Laser and IPL Treatments, VTCT Level 4 Microblading and VTCT Level 4 Micropigmentation.

VTCT Level 2 Facials and Skin Care

VTCT Level 2 Make Up Services

The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Make-up Services allows to develop skills in providing various contrasting make-up services including day, evening, and special occasion looks.

The learner will work with a variety of skin types, conditions and products. The unit covers the application of a wide range of make-up products to different skin tones and age groups. Learn to work with cleansers, foundations, concealers, contour products, lipsticks and glosses, eyeliners, eyeshadows, eyebrow products and more to create soft and striking looks for a variety of occasions.

Throughout this qualification, the learner will develop knowledge and understanding of relevant face shapes, lighting and equipment needed to provide Make-up services for various events. They will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist them to communicate effectively with clients.

VTCT Level 2 Award in Threading

Threading is the manual method of hair removal similar to plucking. Twisted cotton thread is passed across the skin to catch the hairs, removing them from their follicles. Threading is a simple, cheap and an efficient way of removing unwanted hair with minimal pain. Very short hair is removed with little irritation to the skin, making it possible to go over the area more than once to create a clean, fresh finish every time. A 100% anti-bacterial cotton thread is used, which allows strength and resilience during the technique whilst reducing the risk of infection to the skin and hair follicle.

 

Threading is suitable for the smaller areas of the body, mostly the face, e.g. upper lip, eyebrows, chin, sides of the face, nose, ears, neck and forehead but can be used all over the body.

During the course, the learner will learn how to thread unwanted hair using all three main techniques, hand, neck and mouth methods, and upon completion, will be confident performing all three in all required areas. This course can be used towards the full VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy General.

VTCT Level 2 Waxing

Waxing is a safe and effective method used worldwide to remove superficial hair growth using three different methods: Hot Wax, Cream Wax and Warm Wax.

The learner will learn the related health and safety and appropriate client care and communication for wax services in conjunction with learning how to remove hair from key areas effectively, including:

- the face, 

- underarm, 

- bikini area, 

- half legs, 

- full legs, 

- half legs, and

- abdomen. 

The theoretical portion of this course includes the hair growth cycle and the anatomy of the skin and structure of the hair.

This course can be used towards the full VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma Beauty Therapy General.

VTCT Level 3 NVQ Award in Female Intimate Waxing

This course is designed to develop skills and relevant knowledge in removing hair from intimate female areas using various waxing techniques.

The learner will learn to consult with the client, prepare for waxing service, carry out the treatment and produce a treatment plan. They will also need to provide treatment advice to the client, particularly around the avoidance of certain activities that may cause contra-actions post-treatment and appropriate home care advice.

To carry out this treatment, one must maintain effective health, safety and hygiene procedures and show a professional and ethical approach throughout the service.

The main outcomes of this qualification are:

- Maintain safe and effective methods of working when providing female intimate waxing services

- Consult, plan and prepare for waxing services with clients

- Remove unwanted hair

- Provide aftercare advice

This course can be used towards Beauty Therapy Level 3.

VTCT – NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Eye Treatments

This course offers a Level 2 Diploma in Eyebrow and Eyelash treatments. This qualification will enable to gain the knowledge and practical skills required to perform eyebrow and lash services in the beauty industry or on a self-employed basis. The learner will cover application and removal of tint on eyebrows and lashes, eyebrow shaping rules and methods, and the application and removal of temporary strip and flare eyelash extensions used for occasions or evening looks.

Learners wishing to pursue a career as make-up artists or eyelash/brow technicians will benefit from completing this qualification alongside others such as VTCT Level 2 Make-up, VTCT Level 3 Individual Lash Extensions etc.

They can also use this qualification as a pre-requisite to the full Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy General.

VTCT Level 3 Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is a massage technique traditionally used to relieve tension and stress from the head, face, and neck. Today’s lifestyles and occupations lead to many muscular and skeletal concerns in the neck and back.

The Level 3 Certificate in Indian Head Massage is a qualification that is explicitly designed to develop practical skills in how to provide the relaxing and stress relieving treatment of Indian Head Massage.

Underpinning this qualification, the learner will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety, client care and communication. They will also develop knowledge and understanding of the practical skills earned throughout this qualification, such as Anatomy & Physiology.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop skills in providing Indian Head Treatments to a high level of occupational ability. This course can be used towards Beauty Therapy Level 3.

VTCT Level 3 Single Eyelash Extensions (Individual Eyelashes)

The single eyelash extensions course is designed specifically to develop practical skills in applying individual semi-permanent lashes. The learner must have sound knowledge of health and safety practices in a salon environment and the appropriate client care and communication required for this treatment.

The primary purpose of this qualification is to develop skills in applying and removing eyelash extensions and provide with the foundation knowledge of the anatomy of the eye and its relating structures. It covers, how to select the correct lash based on client’s natural lashes, and how to create various designs to enhance a variety of eye shapes so that they can deliver a safe, effective and individual treatment to each client.

VTCT Level 3 Swedish Massage (Includes Anatomy & Physiology)

The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Massage is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare the learner for a career as a beauty therapist or masseuse.

This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty massage therapist including, units covering the following: providing body massage (Swedish massage movement), health and safety, anatomy and physiology and client care.

Upon completion of this course, they will also receive a certificate in Anatomy & Physiology which can be used as a pre-requisite to other Level 3 and Level 4 courses.

This is a fantastic course to use as a pre-requisite to other Level 3 and Level 4 courses, including Sports Therapy Massage and Hot and Cold Stone Therapy Massage.

VTCT Level 3 Hot Stone Therapy.

Hot Stone Massage involves the application of contrasting warm heated and cold stones made of different natural materials with various properties on parts of the body during a massage treatment. It benefits the underlying muscles and tissues by relaxing tissues, loosening and easing tension and pain and aiding the circulatory system to assist in lymphatic drainage and healing from within the body.

 The Hot Stone Massage course is an advanced course for those who are undertaking or who have completed Body Massage or Swedish Massage levels/courses.

The primary purpose of the course is to give practitioners the understanding in the use of hot and cold stone for a massage treatment as well as knowledge on how to heat, cool and store them for use.

This course can be used towards Beauty Therapy Level 3.

VTCT Level 3 Aromatherapy Massage

This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as an aromatherapist, including mandatory units covering the knowledge and understanding of complementary therapy concepts in business practice, anatomy, physiology and pathology.

It will also develop an understanding and practical skills to competently provide aromatherapy services, including custom blends of oils to meet each individual client’s needs.

Throughout this qualification, the learner will develop knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and essential oil properties. They will develop a range of technical skills enabling them to blend essential oils in a tailor-made fashion for each client and providing relaxing aromatherapy massage treatments using different massage techniques.

They will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist to communicate effectively with clients.

The Level 3 Certificate in Indian Head Massage is a qualification that is explicitly designed to develop practical skills in how to provide the relaxing and stress relieving treatment of Indian Head Massage.

Underpinning this qualification, the learner will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety, client care and communication. They will also develop knowledge and understanding of the practical skills earned throughout this qualification, such as Anatomy & Physiology.
